Is it a wise decision to prepare for bank exams after/during a B.Tech?

State bank of India have issued a notification for SBI SO 2018 on 16.1.2018 and aspirants might have started preparing for the same. As bank exams have made certain changes in the last two years in the exam pattern which demands an eye opener for them. Here we are discussing the last year exam analysis of the same.

SBI Specialist Officer Exam Analysis 2017
In 2017, State Bank of India conducted Specialist Officer Exam, the analysis (IT Officer) of the Examination is given below to help you organize your study plan.

SBI SO Prelim Exam had Four Sections namely:

  1. Test of Reasoning
  2. Quantitative Aptitude
  3. English Language
  4. Professional Knowledge.
English language and Quantitative Aptitude section had 35 questions for 35 marks whereas reasoning had 50 questions for 50 marks. These 3 sections constitute part-1 of examination and the other part i.e. part-2 was The Professional Knowledge Test which had 50 questions for 100 marks. Maximum Time allotted for these three sections of part-1 was 90 mins and 45 mins were allotted to professional knowledge which had 50 questions. Professional Knowledge section is the basis on which merit list will be created and it had moderate level questions.

Quantitative Aptitude section had a Moderate level. It had Good attempts for quants from 21-26 with good accuracy. There were no shocks and it was a proportionate paper. A candidate with excellent practice can effortlessly score well.

Questions were bifurcated topic wise as given below:

  • 10 Questions -Data Interpretation (2 set- Line and Tabular Moderate Level)
  • 5Questions -Quadratic Equation (easy-moderate),
  • 5Questions -Series,
  • 5Questions -Approximation (Moderate) and
  • 10Questions- Arithmetic Problems (Moderate Level).
Test of Reasoning was too had a Moderate level. Questions asked were of asked on topics like Blood Relation, Direction, Coding-Decoding, Syllogism, Inequality, Input-Output, Puzzles and Seating Arrangement and Data Sufficiency. It had a Good attempt for reasoning section ranging from 30-35.
Professional Knowledge section of this examination had a Moderate level. Each question was carrying 2 marks as there were 50 questions for 100 marks and the topics from which questions were asked were, DBMS (questions related to DBMS and Data Mining were greater in number in comparison to other topics), Data Mining, Data Warehousing, Operating System, Data Structure, Computer Languages. It had some questions on direct and definition based. Good Attempts for these sections will be 28-33 with good accuracy.
