A MUST KNOW THINGS ABOUT THE SSC CHSL EXAM 2018

It is observed that the aspirants of government jobs do not know or understand about the board or examining body yet they are preparing for it. Blindly following the rat race of giving the exam without knowing the exact exam pattern and syllabus, that is the main reason that they take time to be selected.
Are you aspiring for any of the Government job exam such as SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SBI PO, SBI Clerk or any other, and then it is entirely a wrong way to prepare for the exam.

Whenever you plan to appear in any of the government job exam be it Staff Selection Commission (SSC) or bank exam or any other, just keep in mind the following things that you must know about the exam, these are:

  • Which post you are going to achieve once you got selection;

Now-a-days, SSC CHSL Exam notification is released whose closing date for applying for the exam is 18th December 2017. The date of examination schedule for SSC CHSL is 4th to 26th March 2018 as per the SSC Notification.

The best way to prepare for the exam is to know the exam first, especially for those who are going to appear for the first time or those who appeared last time without knowing about the relevant details of the exam.

This is an exam where there will be more applicants as the minimum educational qualification for the exam is Higher Secondary. It means that graduates will also apply for the same. Therefore the number of applicants will reach more than 20 lakhs. Competition is going to be tough though the exam will not have much of the difficulty level.

This figure clearly specifies that posts are limited and applicants are more. It will definitely see a huge competition and the cut-off will also be on the higher side. Therefore, it is better to understand the exam pattern and syllabus of the same.

Exam Pattern of SSC CHSL 2017

Applicants are recommended to thoroughly study the exam pattern of examination before starting their preparation.  The complete SSC CHSL examination pattern is given below-

Paper I

The exam pattern of Paper 1 will be as follows:

This paper will have four sections (General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude & General Awareness). Each section will carry 50 marks.

The maximum time allowed for the examination will be 2 hours.
Medium of the question paper will be in both the languages i.e Hindi & English except for the English Language Section

This exam will have  MCQ type questions
Every mistake will be penalized with ¼ marks
Each section will be of 50 marks each.

Paper II
Those who will qualify Paper I will be eligible to appear in Paper II which will follow the pattern given below:

Paper II Exam pattern:

This is a qualifying exam as it is related to the posts opted by the candidates while filling the application form.
The Paper will have a question based on the writing skills. It will have an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter / Application writing of approximately 150-200 words.
The performance in Tier II would be nan integral part of the merit.
The least qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 per cent.
The paper can be written either in Hindi or in English, as per the medium opted in the application form while registering for the exam.
Those who will qualify in Paper II will have to appear in any of the skill tests if they have opted for the said posts these are:

Typing Test for LDC

This test will be carried out in both the languages i.e. Hindi & English for those who have qualified the written examination. The candidates need to point out the language of typing while filling the application form. This examination is also of qualifying nature. The desired typing speed for the English language is 35 words per minute and for Hindi language, it should be 30 words per minute.

Skill Test for DEO

This test will be held for those who have qualified in the written examination and opted for DEO post in the application. The candidates should have a data entry speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on the computer. These entries will be analyzed on the basis of accurate entries. The maximum time allowed for this skill test is 15 minutes. A printed matter of 2000-2200 strokes/key-depressions in the English language will be given to each candidate.
